Completed Cards: 2018

In 2018, I am using a wider variety of brands – especially when it comes to sentiments. For example, on the Dad’s day card this year, I combined the Dad’s Day Lawn Fawn stamps with Simon Says Stamp sentiments from the Mother’s Day Zingers set. SSS actually has some really nice, unique sentiments. Bonus, they combine wonderfully with Lawn Fawn stamps. The Dad’s Day set is discontinued. However, there are similar sets by Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn.

I also used much more patterned paper on my cards this year versus last year where I chose mostly solid colored cardstock. The Bo Bunny variety packs available through various scrapbooking sites are convenient. Plus, it’s a good way to try a variety of themed paper without buying an entire paper pad. I also bought more 6×6 pads this year. I think for card-making 6×6 and 8×8 paper pads are really great. My family raided my birthday card stash pretty heavily, so I used up multiple 6×6 paper pads to replenish.

Cards

For my sister & cousin’s college graduations, I used card sketches for inspiration. It worked out well on the congrats card for my sister, but I got stuck on my cousin’s card. Eventually, I just cut out random shapes using leftover scraps and re-arranged them on a card front until I had a combo I liked. Sometimes you just have to power through!

The wedding card was weird because I was so indecisive while making it. Initially, I wanted to make a fairytale-princess type card, so I used the vintage newsprint as a background. Then later, I was inspired by some Becca Feeken cards but I ended up changing my mind on that too. I finally finished with this gold, cream, & brown card after pulling in Prima flowers and Tonic Nuvo Drops. The card box came together much faster. The Bo Bunny crystals and Spellbinders ribbon fit perfectly with the colors I used on the card.
